On April 13-14, it’s considered the Thai New Year, Songkran, a time when we celebrate with various festivities to welcome the new year. This includes cleaning, bathing, preparing offerings for monks, paying respects to elders, and preparing special meals to welcome family members during this Songkran period. This cultural tradition is not exclusive to Thai people; our neighbors such as Myanmar and Laos also have similar customs, although they may be called by different names. Myanmar, for instance, calls it Thingyan, and their event organization is quite similar to ours, Therefore, at Bamboo Family Market, we want to celebrate this new year festival by blending the cultures of various ethnicities together. We believe that at the core of these traditions, , we all share similar beliefs, and we are ready to embrace these differences together, with unity and joy.
On April 13-14, our market will host a plethora of special activities, including:
• Holy Water Splashing
• Building Sand Pagodas
• Demonstrations of local food and desserts
• Spinning cotton thread, weaving, and traditional weaving
• Making candle
• Making decorative items and flower arrangements
We invite everyone to come and experience, learn about traditions, cultures, and indulge in new culinary delights at Bamboo Family Market, from 09:00 to 16:00, at Sangkhampa Space, Sankamphaeng.
